Life on the Farm
Check out "Life on the Farm" and take a look at what life is like living on a farm. See what tools were used on a farm in 1902 when 4-H was just starting. Learn the importance of science and math in using these tools. The "Life on the Farm" program includes an interactive educational display that can be borrowed by groups to help educate youth and adults about life on the farm. [more info...]
Science Discovery Series
Learning about science and math is fun when done with hands-on activities. With the award-winning N.J. 4-H Science Discovery Series, adults can help youth in grades 2-10 learn important life skills and build science and math literacy at the same time. Whether you are a school teacher, youth center staff, home-schooling parent-teacher, camp counselor, 4-H club leader, or other educator, you will find that the lessons and activities contained in this curriculum are as fun and interesting to teach as it will be for youth to experience and learn. Somerset County Science-sational Day
4-H Science-sational Day is held annually on a Saturday in April for participants from the Somerset County and central New Jersey area. It offers a day of science fun for nearly 200 youth, grades 1-6, and their parents. Dozens of hands-on workshops with creative names, such as "Who dirtied the water?," "Rain, Snow, Sun - what will it be?" and "Chemistry Wizardry," are offered annually. Presenters are scientists and teachers who volunteer their time to share the joy of science with youth. Advanced registration is typically available in late February and is often filled weeks later.
